Wireless Integrated In-Field Spectroscopic Instruments
The inclusion of spectroscopic instrument for the Vapor Monitoring & Detection System (VMDS) will provide specific chemical species information in addition to the direct reading instrumentation. These instruments are capable of detecting the identity and concentration of many different chemicals that may be traversing the air space as well as in the ventilation stacks.
Ultra-Violet Differential Optical Adsorption Spectrometer (UV-DOAS)
The Ultra Violet-DOAS spectrometer is a fixed continuous emissions monitor. The system provides real-time multi-gas measurement (qualification and quantification) of gases. The system will be used to detect chemical vapor emissions from the operating Hanford A Farm fixed open-path monitoring. The data will be available via wireless communications to Tank Farm Monitoring and Control System (TFMCS) and SAFER Systems (plume-dispersion software).
Open Path - Fourier Transform Infrared (OP-FTIR)
The Open Path - Fourier Transform Infrared (OP-FTIR) spectrometer system provides real-time multi-gas measurement (qualification and quantification) of gases. Two open path FTIR (OP-FTIR) spectrometers; one fixed path OP-FTIR monitor and one multi-path OP-FTIR monitor (autonomous scanning) are installed in AP Tank Farm. This system is used to detect chemical vapor emissions from the operating Hanford AP Farm with an emphasis on tank farm boundaries (fence line detection). The data will be available via wireless communications to TFMCS and SAFER Systems.
Stack Analyzer (UV-DOAS and UV-FTIR)
The Stack Analyzer is made up of an Ultra Violet-Differential Optical Absorption Spectrometer (UV-DOAS) and a Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer in a single fixed continuous stack emissions monitor. The system provides real-time multi-gas measurement of gases using both ultra-violet and infrared radiation providing the capability to monitor many different chemical vapors common to the tank farms. This system will be used to detect chemical vapor emissions from the operating Hanford AP Farm exhaust stack. The data will be available via wireless communications to TFMCS and SAFER Systems.
